Chiron is one of the most interesting and unusual bodies in astrology. In mythology, Chiron was a centaur, but he was unlike the other centaurs. Most centaurs had a human head and a torso and the tail and legs of a horse, but Chiron had human front legs showing a more human quality.
Chiron was a teacher, healer, archer, and he was immortal. When wounded by a poisoned arrow, his immortality kept him living in agony until he gave up his immortality to save Prometheus. Because of the myth, Chiron is known as the wounded healer in astrology and its said that he represents the wound in the chart. If we look at the symbol for Chiron its shaped like a key. Combined with the nature of the myth and Chiron's reputation as a teacher, mentor and healer, it's more reasonable to see him as the key to healing in your chart.
This retrograde will bring forth those wounds. Don't look at them as haunting memories that lead you to self destructive behavior . It's time to face those wounds and rather than focusing on the wound focus on the healing aspects. Envision yourself no longer struggling with this wound and see yourself free of the behavior it triggered. How has facing this wound manifested? Sometimes, we are so used to certain toxic traits because everyone around us is doing them that we don't even see them as toxic. They are just part of "self-care" so we do them. Well, has binge watching Netflix for 3 weeks given you results....no. Because it's not self-care its avoidance.
Chiron goes retrograde on Tuesday July 19 @ 11:21 am PST.
