Imbolc

Imbolc is the first fire festival in the dark half of the wheel. As we start to move out of winter and into spring the sun is starting to stick around longer. Imbolc is associated with the sun and fire but also with life and water. The word Imbolc translates to an old Irish word that means “in the belly”. Since this is a fertility holiday naturally some of the origin names will reflect that. So what does all this mean? It means you need to really take action now towards them goals. The last New Moon was a great way to kick it off but if you missed it, here’s your second chance. As you may have noticed I’m posting more content, that is me taking action. That is me not just coming up with a plan but taking physical action to move closer to one of my goals. This a time to set yourself up, start networking if it’s required, when I think of a pregnant belly I think of expansion. Expand your reach, expand your knowledge and nourish yourself properly. Nourish your mind, your body and soul. Take some prenatal vitamins lol, kidding! But I think I have made myself clear with what Imbolc means. Imbolc is also associated with Saint Brigid’s Day, which is a Christian holiday to honor an Irish patron. It’s also associated with Goddess Frigga who is the goddess of fertility, marriage, hearth and home. Essentially all of the things that Goddess Frigga rules over are themes to Imbolc.

So let’s shake off the cold and dark of winter and welcome in the life giving light and fertility of the sun!

Imbolc is officially on February 1st but it’s a celebration of a few days.
